Journey

My favorite poem is "The Journey" by Mary Oliver. I've been doing some duet-like oil paintings with this theme in mind. Thinking of the little wren (or whomever) heading off into the great unknown- beautiful, frightening, doing as Mary Oliver says "determined to do the only thing you could do-determined to save the only life you could save."

Week Nineteen-February 21-25

Camelia is dreaming about her new room- she thinks it's within reach!!

Monday-Presidents' Day- Jim and I both home- lots going on.Looks like this will be another week of painting- hopefully FINISHING painting. Today seems like it will be prepping for wall painting and maybe spraying walls (liveable green and friendly yellow!). Green for big room and hall; yellow for bath and 2nd bedroom. Stuart's guy Salvador and his cousin are also coming today to dig more along the side of the house- to continue the french drainage system to the sidewalk. We have the drain factory going on over there-drains in the concrete, sump pump and concrete drain as well. The gutters will empty into the drains as well. The Cox cable guy spent most of the day here too- fixing broken cable wiring.

Tuesday- Mauricio-a perfectionist, painted the cabinets today

Wednesday- The bedroom is painted!

Friday- They finished the hallway, room and doors - and put the doors back on- after a week of no bathroom door!

The bathroom looks almost done! -no floor, but painted walls and part of the cabinets put together. It's beautiful.

Week Eighteen-February 14-18

Monday-Friday-A week of painting. Painting more primer/paint on outside and trim on inside.
Window trim....

Hall trim....

Overview of room trim....

Cabinet priming....

Door handles...

Doors installed and handles on- mostly...then removed again to paint. Plastic, fumes, etc.Friday we spent the night at Jan and Bryan's because of the fumes. Trim looks really good though.
